"She loved the smell of wet dirt the way others might love the smell of roses" Dawn Hewitt
Barb Sears
After a 30 year career as a plant geneticist (and a hobby potter), in my retirement I am happy to have more time for ceramics. I am very appreciative of the resources and proximity of the Greater Lansing Potters’ Guild, where I do 100% of my work. I continue to improve my skills by observing and learning from the teachers and members of the Guild. In my sculptural and decorative work, my subjects have been landscapes and animals, but I seem to be drawn mostly to chickens. However, my main interest is functional pottery; I especially enjoy making mugs, and I love having projects inspired by requests from family members and friends.
